Pair of Vintage Florentine Bookends old signs for interiors dating from the 70sA beautiful pair of little Florentine bookends. I adore the splash of turquoise with the gold. I love Florentine pieces. It is a centuries old tradition and often interprets the rich ornate detail of Renaissance decorative art pieces. The gold paint resembles gilding. Florentine gilt objects became popular in the late Victorian era and are even mentioned in Oscar Wildes The Picture of Dorian Gray. There are some scratches and flakes of paint coming
